Introduction
Fashion is explained without the use of words. It is a world where people walk down the runway and unconvientaly explain what they are trying to portray such as: a person’s class, age, event, etc. The buyers for these clothes are so important to fashion. They are the ones who put items in store and are really much more of a realistic person in this fashion world. I say this because most things that you see walking down the runway are not wearable. It is the job of the buyer to know their target market and what is going to sell. It is important to my career that I know they past, present, and future trends to come.
As I grew up I was always the kid that was fashion forward. My mother jokes that when she was a principle, I got her in trouble for making clothes and selling them. As much as fashion design interests me I know my own weaknesses and designing is a lot of pressure. This is where both of my parents have influenced me to do what I love. They are both business owners and I have learned so much from them. I am more influenced by people that travel the world and pick out clothes that they think people are going to wear.
I chose these designers because some are out of this world and some traveled the world. They are mostly very different. These remarkable people have influenced us over the decades. Mary McFadden is one who traveled the world and took her experiences in and cultivated them into her designs. I hope to one day see someone this amazing and be able to buy her designs for a store. Then you have Roberto Cappucci, whom helped cultivated haute couture. His designs were so different and stylish. A born Italian designer turned to Paris to make his own dreams come true.
Ossie Clark and Halston are both from the 1970’s and this is my favorite time in fashion so it is important to me to know who some of the major designers were. When just looking and researching the designers something about both of them caught my eye. The epitome time of sex, drugs, and rock n roll did not stop these two at least for this decade. There designs were heavily influenced on the world around them. Lastly, Catherine Maladrino is one who just caught my attention from her colors and her american flag dress she seems like she defiantly knows what she is doing and I wondered why I never heard of her.
I chose the designer’s from different decades to really cover my basis and to see how fashion has changed over the years. I am intrigued by each of the way they design clothes and how they did not conform to anyone of their decade. They were unprecedented and ingenious in each piece they designed and this is why I chose them for my project.
